In 2011 the Cuban government announced the legalization of private property sales, one of the most significant changes within the socialist regime and economy in decades. Shortly after, urban landscapes became dominated by handmade advertisements. This public intervention involved trading plastic signs made by the artist for the owners’ homemade signs. The exchange was recorded and the owners discussed their intentions and motivations, including where they will settle if the sale is successful.
