Nestor Siré (b.1988, Nuevitas, Cuba)
Lives and works between Havana and Camagüey.
Graduate from Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts Education (B.A.E) 2006, in Camagüey, Cuba.
Siré participated in the 12th Gwangju Biennale, Korea (2018), the Curitiba Biennial, Brazil (2017), the Havana Biennial, Cuba (2015), the Festival of New Latin American Cinema, Cuba (2013), the Oberhausen International Festival of Short Film, Germany (2016), and the Asunción Biennale, Paraguay (2015).
His works have been exhibited at other venues including the National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana, The Queens Museum, NY, Hong-Gah Museum, Taiwan, Rhizome in The New Museum, NY, UNAM Museum of Contemporary Art, México, and Museum of Contemporary Art of Santa Fe, Argentina among other venues.
Siré was the winner of the 12th Exhibition of Young Filmmakers, Cuban Institute of Art and Film Industry, the 2016 award of “Visa for Creation” from l’Institut Français, France and the Media Arts Assistance Fund Grant, New York State Council on the Arts/Wave Farm. US (2018). He has also participated in residencies including Dos Mares in Marseille, France (2016), and The Ludwig Foundation and LASA in Havana, Cuba (2013).
